Term Four Writing Competition
Take a novel you have read or film you have seen.
Write a short piece (400-1000 words) from the antagonist's point of view.
Remember to focus on your descriptions of character and setting, as well as including the character's thoughts and feelings.
Plot is not important for this piece of writing.
The competition is open to all year groups and will close on Monday, May 30th (about four weeks' time).
I am happy to mark drafts and redrafts.
Prizes will be glamorous as ever...
Good luck!

New Writers' Group?
I know that we have the Tea-Drinkers Union and the fortnightly Book Group, but it occurs to me that there is scope for a monthly creative-writing group.
My intention is to have it open as of this term, starting in a couple of weeks if enough people show interest.
To provide motivation, I have found this list of competitions, for which there are CASH PRIZES TO BE HAD. These range from about £50 to £5,000.
The idea behind the group is that we can meet once a month to bounce ideas off one another and share our writing so it can be absolutely polished before it is sent away.
Of course, you can enter the competitions without joining the group, but writers' groups are a proven way to improve your writing.
I will, of course, be running another writing competition in-school this term and will announce details this coming week. Any piece of writing you do for my competition, for your folios, or just for your own amusement, may be usable for the competitions link above. Have a wee think about it.
See you tomorrow.

Last chances...
We all get back to work on Tuesday, sorry to remind you, but I hope your break has been very good, and that you enjoy your final day off tomorrow.
While you have access to the internet at home, I'd be dead grateful if you clicked here and voted for www.misterconnor.com (Best Teacher Blog category plus one other of your own choice). It will take less than a minute.
Many thanks.

Bentley and Craig/ Let Him Dangle - Elvis Costello
This video is a bit distracting but you at least get to hear the song that retells the story. Whether you like the tune or not, it has a tendency to stick in your head. You have been warned.
